If you've arrived here from Sew Mama Sew's blog - hello, welcome, please take a look around. But straight on to the giveaway, which you are definitely here for!
Regular readers (are there any??) will know that I was trying to organise a local (UK) scrap swap. I got some lovely scraps from some very nice people :-) In fact they were so nice they did not take anything in return.
As you can see each pack contains mostly small scraps. Some as big as 10" by 15" but none as large as a FQ. It weighs roughly 200g (that's 7oz for our American cousins)
So I still have some of my bundles left over from then and now I am giving you a chance of winning them by just answering one simple question of your choice:
1. Where is your favourite place to buy fabric? (It can be a bricks and mortar shop near you or an online shop, or even the proverbial man in a pub!)
2. Do you buy for a specific project or are you a hoarder like me?
3. How often does your spouse/partner help you with your crafty endeavours? (Guess who suggested this question?!) Like a human quilt hanger for photos, going to the store, impartial advisor or is he just the money?!!
Answer whichever question you like in a comment below and I will get the subject of no. 3 to pick a random number to choose the winner on 10 May.
For more information on the scrap packs see my previous post here.
Comments are now closed.
I google to find the best price on whatever fabric I'm looking for.
ReplyDeleteI do have a hoard of sorts, but want to make everything into something, just lackin time!
Thank you.
I am also a hoarder! I do buy for specific projects, but also 'just cos it's nice'. I buy from a local market stall, a local fabric & haberdashers & a curtain making shop which has remnants!Oh, and i raid my mums airing cupboard cos she has loads of old stuff. My other half is usually helpful when i sew something for the first time with 'that looks good, maybe it could use...@ or 'not sure about the handles@, etc.
ReplyDeleteI tend to buy for specific projects, although sometimes what I get ends up going into the stash because it doesn't look as good as I thought. Which is the perils of buying online.
ReplyDeleteI am a hoarder. I buy fabric I love when I see it for a good price. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThe Fabric Guild in Leicester is awesome. And cos you're in the UK like me I'm going to start following your blog ;)
ReplyDeleteI like Hawthorne Threads online!
ReplyDeleteI rarely ever buy for a specific project, I buy what catches my eye and worry later whether or not I have anything to coordinate with it :)
ReplyDeleteLovely offering. Thank you! I always buy for a special project, then horde the leftovers ;) I wish I had the kind of income to just go out and buy something lovely because it was lovely. But I make do. Thanks again. Email is b(dot)moews(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteMy partner helps a lot, he is a stash enabler (lucky me!) and he has a great eye for colour and pattern, I am not much good at matching fabrics, but he is amazing! He is also the money, because I am a SAHM :)
ReplyDeleteI am such a hoarder and an impulse buyer. I can't resist beautiful fabric!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a hoarder.
ReplyDeleteI'm a hoarder.
ReplyDeleteI used to be a hoarder, but now I am being good! I am trying to only buy with a project in mind. Usually... :) Thanks for a lovely giveaway!!
ReplyDelete:) I am an eclectic fabric collector and a home for 'homeless' fabrics. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win, I shop in my local shop but when I go to the UK I love Fabricland, great florals, awesome prices and love their zippers!
ReplyDeleteI like to buy in person so I can feel it and see it with my own eyes, but I buy online a lot simply because the only craft store near me doesn't carry the fabrics I want.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to think I buy things for specific projects...but hoarder is more accurate. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am a hoarder, but I TRY to buy for a specific project. It doesn't always work that way.
ReplyDeleteAnother hoarder here. I buy a lot of my fabric from Fabric.com.
ReplyDeleteI try to buy for specific projects, but sometimes, it's hard to pass up a beautiful fabric! Last year my local fabric shop went out of business... I'd like to see any sewer walk past a "75% off all fabric" sign without stopping in to pick up an armful! :)
ReplyDeleteHoarder, can't help checking out the clearance bin at Joann's :)
ReplyDeleteI do like to buy fabric from my Local Quilt shops. Their selections of colors match so well. And I do take advantage when they have sales.

ReplyDeleteLast week I asked my husband to be an extra set of hands as I drafted a pattern for a circle skirt. You would have thought I asked him to murder one of our kids!
ReplyDeleteI love buying fabric at estate sales and thrift stores. I've found so many incredible vintage fabrics, that I would never have had access to. My husband also really enjoys helping me pick out fabrics for projects.
ReplyDeleteI try to buy with a specific project in mind. Thanks so much for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI usually go to buy fabric for a specific project and then walk out of the store with enough fabric for 20 projects!!! :) atabanana29@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI like to buy my fabric at Fabric Shack. The shipping is affordable for international... My husband helps me picking colors and driving me to quilt shops. I don't buy fabric for specific projects :)

ReplyDeleteI'm a total fabric hoarder!
ReplyDeletedazzlingshorty(at)yahoo(dot)com
I usually buy fabric on ebay. julia.glotova (at) gmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteI occasionally by fabric with a specific project in mind, but more often snatch it up at garage sales, thrift stores and online sales. I do love visiting brick and mortar shops from time to time, but just moved several miles farther away from the nearest one. Which is probably for the best!
ReplyDeleteI am a fabric horder, but once in awhile I'll buy for a specific project. I like brick and morter shops, but have been known to shop online too. And my hubby is a human quilt hanger also. He says he has sleep in front of quilt shops all across the Midwest. He's so sweet.
ReplyDeletepaweis at yahoo dot com
fabrics for joann's right now - i have to travel a way for that though, so i do have to hoard.
ReplyDeleteand the way it works for me and my boyfriend is we both have "craft" time - i work with fabric or yarn and he works with computers and circuit boards
bethbimber(at)gmail(dot)com
I love collecting fabric, I'm a hoarder and I buy for projects, so I'm piling tons of fabric. My husband is delighted by my creations but seriously annoyed after three or four days having dinner next to my sewing machine. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance!
I'm a fabric hoarder :) I love it all.
ReplyDeleteI usually buy fabric with a certain project in mind but occasionally buy something just to have.
ReplyDeleteI buy for specific projects but mostly I buy because, gasp, I am a fabric hoarder.
ReplyDeleteI shop at an online and bricks and mortar shop called The Village Haberdashery. GREAT place :) I am also a fabric hoarder but have two giveaways this week and possibly a third one at the end of the month, so this means I can buy more!!!
ReplyDeletetry to buy for specific projects but I always get carried away ;)
ReplyDeletei am an opportunistic purchasing hoarder :)
ReplyDeleteI am a new quilter so ANY fabric I love. Trying to build my stash. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could afford to be a fabric collector (hoarder, lol) but budget limits me to only buying what I'm immediately going to use. audiodropzone (at) gmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric online and at my LQS. Sort of half and half. I can usually get better deals on specific lines at online shops.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to buy is online at The Intrepid Thread!
ReplyDeleteMy other half holds quilts, gives lots of encouragement and loves it if I ask for his opinion. He's actually learning to speak "quilt".
ReplyDeletefiance is pretty good about helping, he likes picking color combos, doesnt enjoy holding quilts though haha says I take too long... :)
ReplyDeleteDo you buy for a specific project or are you a hoarder like me? Hording, halolic,,,, LOL. Online I have 2 favs, I like the way FQ shop packs, but I also like the pics on Etsy. My hubby has a great eye for color.
ReplyDeletei'm a hoarder for sure
ReplyDeletemcsweeney.erin@gmail.com
yard sales and rummage sales in church basements where you fill a bag!
ReplyDeleteI tend to buy fabric when I see it is on a good deal. I like ebay, but my favourite is Very Berry Fabrics (online) for Liberty fabrics. Thank you for a lovely giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI'm a hoarder - sort of. I do eventually use everything, so I never end up with a room full of fabric, it all rotates into and out of the house eventually!
ReplyDeleteI'm a horder. And them I buy for specific projects.
ReplyDeletesntbosch(at)me(dot)com
Well I need to combine questons 2 and 3. I buy for specific projects and my husband helps all the time.
ReplyDeleteLet's see, I prefer to buy in an actual shop, but I tend to buy most of my fabric online now - just can't beat the prices! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI'll answer all three! I buy fabric wherever I find something I like. I have fabric from fancy shops and from thrift shops. That's why I'm a fabric hoarder. I'm trying to only buy for projects right now to reduce my hoard. My spouse participates in crafty endeavors from time to time, usually by driving me to the craft store to get things I need for a project or (recently) helping me cart a big project to the art show it was in.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE scrap packs and mystery bundles, so your giveaway is one of my favorites.
I buy specifically for projects and also tend to hoard.
ReplyDeleteI like Abakhan Mill in North Wales to pick up some bits and pieces also fililis.com
ReplyDeletehappitots@gmail.com
I don't think of myself as a fabric hoarder, but more as a collector of beautiful things.I usually buy fabrics without anything in mind to make with it. My favorite place to shop is Connecting Threads and Keepsake Quilting. Thank you for a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am a horder, I love fabric. I buy fabric whenever I have extra money.
ReplyDeletered_murray2@yahoo.com
I live in Sonora, CA which has a couple quilting shops. So, I usually do most of my quilt shopping at Joann's. I sometimes buy for a specific project but usually end up purchasing white fabric only. Yes, my spouse takes an intesest in my quilts when they are on the floor but never goes quilt shopping with me. You have a wonderful assortment of scraps and they always work well in a scrap quilt. Thank you for being a part of Sew Mama Sew giveaway and giving me the chance to win.

I am SUCH a hoarder!
ReplyDeleteI do a bit a hoarding, and a bit of buying for specific projects. Thanks for the chance to win! jgemeroy(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteWell, I try to buy fabric only for specific projects, but I don't.
ReplyDeletesaruqa at gmail dot com
I shop locally at Fabric Depot and online through Connecting Threads (also local to me). I also have an online auction problem that may require an intervention at some point. Seriously - I'm such a sucker for precut lots.
ReplyDeleteHoarder... no doubt! I just love fabric.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes purchase fabrics with a specific project in mind, but often just purchase something because I love it and figure out what it will become later (after much gazing and thought...)
ReplyDeleteThere is a lovely little quilt shop near my home in a quaint shopping center - Country Village. That's my favorite place to shop, mostly because I can touch all the fabrics and see them next to each other (something Internet shopping can not oblige me of).
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric for particular projects, but then fall behind in actually making them...so perhaps I am a hoarder?
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win more goodies.
I like all your questions so here are all my answers. 1. Local quilt shop called "Quiltessential" in St. Albert, AB CAN and also online at "Fat Quarter Shop". 2. I buy for specific projects but sadly I am a hoarder. 3. My husband is a soldier so he is often away but when he is home he is definitly a human quilt hanger for photos an he is the money for sure. I try to avoid taking him to shops because his loud complaining is embarassing. I do ask his opinion often on design and usually go with what he says. He is usually very supportive even though my quilting costs him money. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the generous giveaway. If I shop locally then my LQS is the Bramble Patch. If I shop online I use Fluffy Sheep, The Village Haberdashery, Pink Castle, The Intrepid Thread, Knotted Threads, and many more. I buy sometimes for a purpose but more often for the love of the fabric. My husband funds all purchases. Love him!!!
ReplyDeletei am a horder but i love Connecting Threads fabric thanks
ReplyDeleteI am a complete hoarder and I usually buy from Etsy. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI like to go To Thayer Fabric in Missouri. Love the people who run it
ReplyDeleteMy husband is go at going with me when I shop at quilt stores, he never complains.
ReplyDeleteI'm a hoarder, if I like it, I buy it because I just know I'll find the perfect project for it. Someday. Ha ha!
ReplyDeleteWe generally shop at the local shops. Hubbie almost always goes with me (about 95% of the time).
ReplyDeleteHe also helps me pick fabrics for most projects as well as thread for embroidery projects.
syvisser@gmail(dot)com
I love your beautiful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI buy mostly from my local fabric shop.
Most of my fabrics comes from secondhandstores! When I see a fabric I like, I just buy it :) No planning there!
ReplyDeleteGun, Sweden
gun@lapp.se
I found your questions very entertaining! I am a fabric hoarder -- no, a collector. I think I need a few more fabrics to complete my collection. My husband thinks I need an intervention.
ReplyDeleteI've been super careful in the past to only buy fabric if I had a specific project in mind for it within a short timeframe... So I wonder how I ended up with so much fabric?
ReplyDeleteI get my fabric from the quilt shop. No I don't need a project to buy fabric. and No my hubby don't help. lol shesdevilish40(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeletei used to only buy fabric for projects but suddenly i've fallen off that wagon and started buying JUST FOR THE STASH. oh no!! slippery slope...
ReplyDeleteYay another uk blogger!
ReplyDeleteI buy for specific projects that I have in mind...in the future...some time...when I get time...
Who am I kidding - I collect fabric because it's pretty. I will use it all though. I promise! lol.
And as for a significant other's role - I don't have one but I do have a long suffering sister who ends up holding quilts up for photos and spending ages listening to me debate colour combinations and layouts for blocks.
I live in a very small town here in Canada and so finding designer fabric is like trying to find a pin in a SNOW STACK! So I purchase all of my favorite designer fabrics from hawthorne threads! I LOVE their customer service, prices and all over ease of website use! Try them - you will be hooked!
ReplyDeleteI love to buy at any local shop I can find, but I find them very limiting in selection and style. I tend to shop sales online. I miss living in Ohio where I was close enough to the Fabric Shack to buy in person. :)
ReplyDeleteiammaryburke@gmail.com
I buy fabric on impulse, so I guess I'm a hoarder! Sometimes I supplement it with fabric for a specific project.
ReplyDeleteI love all your questions but I will answer the last one. My hubby helps when he wants to, he's a perfectionist so when he feels he should kick in he'll press something to make it look just right. He is also currently the financial investor in my quilts. Thanks for the giveaway. linhs4real@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI love Mad About Patchwork! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI used to buy for a project, now...well, a sale gets me every time!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is my quilt hanger yes, lol!
I am a hoarder. I have good intentions not to buy unless I need the fabric for a project, but those intentions fall by the roadside when I hear a lovely calling my name!
ReplyDeleteEtsy..esp westwoodacres.. great shop!
ReplyDeleteHmm I'm a hoarder.. but It doesnt seem to last too long in my stash as I quickly find something to make with it.
and my hubby... he's the critic and the money
I am a fan of Etsy and I am a hoarder!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a "hoarder".. I'm a collector!! :) wink!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a fabric hoarder. I don't shop for specific projects, but shop the remnants bins for whatever strikes my fancy and build up my stash of scraps.
ReplyDeleteI am a hoarder i usually have a plan for the fabric which changes by the time i get home from the store :)
ReplyDeleteI am trying to only buy for a specific project now. I have a lot of fabric but they don't often look nice together.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win! My Other Half seems rather enthusiastic about helping my mom and I in our crafty endeavours, as he has recently promised to bring back lots of cotton fabric from his trip to India!
ReplyDeleteI like to buy my fabric at joAnns. They always seem to have it on sale.
ReplyDeletemindingmomma(at)aol(dot)com
Ohh, who doesn't LOVE scrap packs?! I buy fabric that appeals to me, not for a specific project. In fact, the inspiration for new projects comes from standing in my workroom and looking at the fabric.
ReplyDeleteI usually get my fabric at JoAnns. I usually only can afford things on sale or clearance.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win pretty scraps! My husband doesn't seem to mind helping me with the photos, opinions, and he is always willing to take me to new quilt shops when we travel. All in all I am very blessed!
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric online, but prefer going to my LQS, the Quilting Bee. I love to feel the fabric and see the colors in person. I am a hoarder, but I also buy for specific projects.
ReplyDeleteI'm such a hoarder. I try to buy for specific projects but then I add in stuff I just want on my shelf.
ReplyDeleteI buy fabric when I see something that I like... but when I have a project in mind, then I shop specifically for it (unless of course I see something additionally...)
ReplyDeleteMy husband is my chief photographer. He helps regularly. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love JoAnn's! I wish there was one closer to me!
ReplyDeleteOnline I buy a lot from fabric.com and naturesfabric... Brick and mortar I go to CityCraft in Dallas... they have awesome stuff. I hoard!! Ok but it is not hoarding... it is having what I need on hand for any stroak of genius that comes upon me (or awesome sale I see). My husband usually says.. and what do you need that for. He always tells me to sell everything I make... one day. :) shern9@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love a bargain so anywhere that has a sale!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a gatherer. I very rarely have to track down supplies that I need. I usually have something tucked away that's perfect! And sale sections keep that stocked up regularly!
ReplyDeleteI usually buy fabric for a specific project, albeit it's usually much more than called for "just in case"! I recently tried "hoarding" and bought a few collections but now I won't cut into them! Even the "non-designer" collections! Oh well, I'll try again!
ReplyDeleteGuess I'm more of a hoarder these days although I have been hitting thrift stores and finding some good buys.
ReplyDeleteLove this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric bundles!
I'm afraid I'm a hoarder too!
Can't resist fabric....
My in-house tech support crunches the numbers. I come up with a pattern or idea and tell him how big I want to make it and then he does all sorts of fiddly fancy stuff with numbers.
ReplyDeletetrash
(trashalou at googlemail dot com)
I am definitely a hoarder. i buy fabric when it catches my eye then, when I want to do a project, I begin the search through my stash for something suitable!
ReplyDeletesew lux fabric and Missouri star quilt company are a couple online ones I buy fabric and notions from. HOARDER for sure!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I always go to the store with ideas what I will make with the fabric I buy... but then never make them, so I guess I'm a hoarder? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a fabric hoarder. I just love the stuff. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI do lots of shopping on Etsy because you can almost always something you like! And I am a hoarder which came in lucky recently when I was working on the Birdie blog hop at Sew We Quilt. Lastly, yes I have help with some of my projects. Like providing things when I need them...great helper! There I managed to answer all three questions in one!
ReplyDeleteYes to everything you said!
ReplyDeleteI am a hoarder. Its a problem.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to buy fabrics would be online, Connecting Threads and Missouri Star Quilt Company, then I add them to my stash, and my husband pretends not to notice all the postal deliveries...lol
ReplyDeleteI'm going to answer #3. My husband starting quilting before I did. We have different taste in fabrics, but it is joint obesession in our hoarding of fabric. Thanks for chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI love Fabric Worm.
ReplyDeleteI'm a hoarder.
I buy at brick and mortar shops, sometimes garage sales, sometimes on the internet. I buy for specific projects, but also buy just because I like a fabric whether I have a specific project in mind or not. My hubby sometimes goes with me, sometimes he looks around but usually I ask him his opinion on what I have picked out (not that I always pay attention) LOL. He pays the bill too. He calls it cheap therapy.
ReplyDeletesesntrings (at) yahoo (dot) com
I usually purchase at my local quilt store.
ReplyDeleteI rarely buy for a project...I am a hoarder!my husband is a huge supporter of mine. He helps me with so many things...even money! I buy online, real shops and discount craft stores
ReplyDeleteI know I answered al. 3 questions...I'm being a suck up!
My best fabric has come from fabric flea markets, but there's now a fabric store in my town that sells Japanese and high end cotton fabrics.
ReplyDeletemcclelland@sympatico.ca
I am a hoarder! LOL I do try to buy for a specific project, but then I see something pretty that I just have to have before it is gone! LOL
ReplyDeleteYep, definitely a hoarder. :) Thanks for the chance to win. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI've just started out quilting so I need to build up a stash so I guess I'm a hoarder. Right now, I tend to go to stores and look for their clearance fabrics and/or remnants!
ReplyDeleteI'm no hoarder. At least, so I tell myself... everything that I buy is with a plan in mind. What's on the shelf now is what I have not got around the sewing up, or I got too much.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance! I have two giveaways happening too - www.craftyhour.com
I buy for a specific project in mind, but always end up with extra that adds up. I'm sure my husband would say I'm a hoarder- especially since I save every possible scrap to quilt with.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win. I tend to do a mix of both - project-specific and stashbuilding. I only have a couple of bins so far, so not too bad.
ReplyDeleteI like to buy from thrift shops. I find all sorts of vintage stuff. SO fun. Thanks
ReplyDeletehcvallad@hotmail.com
My favorite place to buy fabric isn't an easy question, but at the moment I'm going to say Form and Fabric's online website. They sent the fabric in a great giant clear bag, with pink tissue paper and 3 "post cards" with some designs and their logo. Plus someone signed a thank you in pen on my order form! Their customer service when I had an issue with a remnant not going in my cart was superb.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite places to buy fabric are Hawthorne threads, and the quilted castle. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love your scrap packs! I don't have a "favorite" place to shop, so I will answer question #2: Right now I'm trying to use up some of my stash before buying new fabric, so you can assume I don't usually buy for a specific project! =)
ReplyDeleteI try to buy just for certain projects to keep my sewing room somewhat organized.
ReplyDeleteI always buy with a project in mind, but I make sure to buy extra to add to my stash!
ReplyDeleteI buy the fabric when I find it at good price, so when I feel like sewing something I just have to take a look at the fabric I've already got and sew sew sew!
ReplyDeleteEach fabric I buy had a certain pattern for it in my mind-there are just not enough hours in the day!
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly a hoarder - but I only buy if the price is right - and about a quarter of my purchases are for specific projects.
ReplyDeleteLove buying from Fabricshack.com. Fabric here in NZ is so expensive so get most online from the US
ReplyDeleteI mostly buy fabric for a specific project, but always a bit more than necessary, so that I will have at least some scraps left for hoarding (or using in some future projects).
ReplyDeleteI live in rural Australia so I tend to shop online from the US as I can get the best prices that way.
ReplyDeleteOh and I am a hoarder, I buy fabric and then won't cut into my favourites, so I have to buy more.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Hubby helps when asked :) He's extremely good as a photo taker, second opinion on this fabric-er and calms me down when I want to punch the sewing machine :-P
ReplyDeleteI tend to hoard things, so to protect my living room from impending doom I attempt to just buy what I need for projects, while a couple FQs might end up in the basket, no harm no foul :) Thank you for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteHello, and thanks for the chance to win !
ReplyDeleteUsually I fall in love with a fabric that inspires me a cloth, and it is the fabric that inspires me a project, not the opposite. But I store at home fabrics I can find in sale or old clothes because I can't afford most of the fabrics I fall in love with.
I have been buying fabric online .. mostly peoples scrap packs off ebay .. I have been eyeing off some FQ bundles online .. Mostly Riley Blake and pat bravo's as well as some Moda Solids .. I do however have a local fabric shop nearby (not as cheap though) but sometimes fabric just calls for you to go in and physically touch the fabric! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a hoarder! I *do* go and buy specifics .. to go with one or two pieces from my stash but I'm definitely a "Ooh! I like! *bUY*" kind of person whether I have a purpose or not! :)
ReplyDeleteI guess I am really really really lucky. My partner helps me sandwich and pin quilts (On the floor I might add!) he helps me with color suggestions, shape/design suggestions, project ideas, you name it. Short of actually doing it himself, which he doesn't do, he's VERY helpful! :)
ReplyDeleteAhem...I think I am a hoarder. I buy fabric that I really like when it is on sale!!
ReplyDeleteI buy from a street market! we do not have crafty fabric shops in Sri Lanka.
ReplyDeleteI buy in differents shops. I usually try to find the best price :-)
ReplyDelete(my email is antifa2000 @ gmail.com)
My hubby helps me by picking fabrics - as he has a really good eye for matching fabrics. He helps me with layouts and he has quilted with the walking foot for me too. Just wish we had more time to get more quilts done together. :) Thanks for a chance to win! :)
ReplyDeleteI have not purchased fabric in a year since I was putting 2 kids thru college. When I did, I purchased online. Now , I buy only what I need.
ReplyDeleteI buy batiks online at thousandsofbolts and second hand clothes in Hungary. A bit of a hoarding too...
ReplyDeleteehodasz at yahoo dot com
I buy fabric from fabricworm.com or from my local fabric store. usually it is because I like something.
ReplyDeleteKona cotton I always bay with a specific project in mind.
My favorite place is a yard sale, you get the best deals there but second best is Brick and Mortar stores with coupons, Black Bag Saturday at one of the local stores is my favorite, you play games, get snacks and win prizes, what more could I ask for :) Thank You! Bj.
ReplyDeleteMy OH doesn't help very much - he can't see the point of it all! Sometimes I'll ask him to hold something for me to photograph. I don't ask his opinion very often though because he's a perfectionist and quite 'picky', which doesn't do much for my self-esteem!
ReplyDeleteTeresa x
So far I haven't had to enlist my husband for any assistance in my crafting endeavors. I guess he really is just the money! :) By the way, he is totally fine with that - going to a quilt shop or handing over twenty dollars? Hmm?! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to shop is the Fat Quarter Shop - an online shop. Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a total fabric hoarder :/ I buy what I like, and then when I finally decide to use it in a project I invariably have to go out and buy solids or blenders or whatever to work with the 'orphan' fabric.
ReplyDelete(And I'm an online shopper, there's precious little in the way of modern fabric within a 2 hour drive of my house)
i try not to be a hoarder but it's hard and my husband helps by doing silk screening on fabric for me sometimes. :)
ReplyDeleteI guess I would have to be a fabric horder. I buy fabric when its on sale, or at thrift shops. I also use clothing that is given to me as fabric. So i have to take it where I can get it because we can't afford to buy full price. Also, the fabric store is 40 minutes away, so If i have a coupon for it, I buy when I go so I dont have to drive back. I love being able to shop my stash when I can't go to the store.
ReplyDeleteI usually buy from Fat Quarter Shop and I hoard for awhile and then break down and use some of my stash. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI hoard fabric and buy it everywhere. Thanks for the chance to win :)
ReplyDeleteI like joanns for great prices and etsy for good fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI have become a fabric hoarder, I see it I like it I buy it. Thank goodness I have a full time job! Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI buy my fabric in Hawthorne Threads mainly. I buy for each project but then I add more to the order to get better pricing so I guess I'm beginning to be a hoarder. And once, when he bought me a sewing machine for christmas 2011.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.
I both hoard and buy for specific projects (less guilt about that 2nd one, though). I buy from a lot of online shops, but I will go to my LQS first - if they have it, I'll buy it there.
ReplyDeleteHubby is usually the practical help when I don't have enough hands to hold something like a bag and lining while I pin and the voice of calm when something isn't working out and I start to use bad words at my project. Since I just got laid off due to down sizing he is also the money now I guess :(
ReplyDeleteI love HawthorneThreads.com! My husband is my "consultant"--he helps with mathy things (he's a mathematician/analyst and loves quilty math!), layouts, colors...basically anything I get stuck on.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a gentle constructive critic. He can usually suggest a great change or addition to whatever project I am working on. He also will lend a hand when there are tools involved!
ReplyDeleteI'm usually a hoarder! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the offer. I buy most of my fabric at a store called East coast Fabrics and a great little old-fashioned haberdashery store called Russells (they still wrap every thing in brown paper). I have a small stash but mostly try to buy for a project (after shopping my stash. The only help hubby does is to sometimes rethread my overlocker for me.
ReplyDeleteI had to loock what hoarder means. And YES I'm a hoarder! ;-P
ReplyDeleteI am a total hoarder! I buy what I like and keep a nice stash, you never know when inspiration may struck!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to get sch nifty giveaway :-)
I mostly buy from Fabric.com. If I buy online it is usually with a project in mind and in town it is usually for hoarding.

ReplyDeleteI buy most of my fabric from Fresh Modern Fabrics. She's great!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the UK too but i by 90% of my fabric from Brenda, Jason et al at Pink Castle. Fantastic service, good prices, what more could you ask!
ReplyDeleteI try to do both! I buy for a project, but if there's a sale on, or I'm putting an order in anyway, I usually add a bit of something I've fallen in love with without knowing what I'll use it for. And the shops I use most often are the Village Haberdashery and M is for Make.
ReplyDeleteI like to buy my fabric from several on line shops (Sew Lux Fabric, Missouri Star Quilt Co., and Wish Upon a Quilt) or my local quilt shop (Wish Upon A Quilt). I am a new quilter so I don't have the stash that most quilters have but I would gladly like to be called a hoarder someday. My hubby is great....he doesn't complain when I buy fabric, he drives me to and waits in the car while I shop at quilt shops, and is always happy to help me out when I need it. Thank you! anglanouette(at)gmail(dot)com

I always try to use fabricdonkey.com to find sales - but right now I'm on a fabric diet! I definitely buy fabrics just because I like them, not because I have anything in mind.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
I tend to buy most of my fabrics online because I enjoy shopping from my home, but I do support our LQSs too.

I have a bricks and morter and an online that I use. Hoarder, but I do make myself at least make a list of what I might use it for before I buy it. My SO helps me when I am stuck in a design or color combo dilemma...or so I tell him. :) nanasingsandquilts gmail com
